The Lazy Person's guide to saving the world

Hey everyone!

As I mentioned in my introductory post, I am balancing between fun and work. Part of that serious work I'm doing is Model United Nations (two different ones, actually!). Model United Nations is a conference for high school or university students, a simulation of the United Nations. You are assigned a country and a comittee, write resolutions and debate. The exact 'Rules of Procedure' differ in the various MUNs.

Well, during research for one of the two MUNs, which is already over (the other one coming up in two weeks) I had to research the Sustainable Development Goals. They are 17 goals which the United Nations try to achieve from 2015 to 2030. The UN has a nice website where you can look them up.

While on there, I also stumbled over the gem that is the "Lazy Person's Guide To Saving The World"!

I just had to share it with you! So what is absolutely great is that it has different categories: Things you can do from your couch; Things you can do at home; and Things you can do outside your house. I think it's important to start with yourself and easy, because if it's too hard, fewer people will do it. Some of those really easy things include:
Share, don't just like; use a refillable water bottle; bring your own bag to shop or go voting!
I really like the share, don't like one, even though I need to implement it more, as well. Sometimes I even feel weird about liking activist posts on instagram, but now I have this blog here where I can even share it!
And as for the plastic bags, in Germany, they cost 15 cents now. Which is not that much if you forget to bring one, but it does add up. But when I was in the US (for the MUN haha) I noticed how many plastic bags they gave me without even asking. But most of the cashiers were positively impressed when I pulled out my own bag, so give it a try, I think this is one of the most important and easiest ones!

Since I'm a lazy person as well, I'm just going to end this post now. Which things do you already do to make the world a better place? Share in the comments so we can learn from each other! :)
Also, if you have any further questions, for example about Model UN, Tips to make a positive impact or whatever crosses your mind, just write me.

Have a nice day!!

First Post - What is this and who are you??

Hi everyone,

I'm Emilia Van!

I'd like to use this blog to write about stuff that interests or concerns me, sometimes rather serious, sometimes not that serious.

The most important thing is probably that I will write myself, so firstly, I'll be practicing writing and secondly, I will think about this, unlike on some other social media platforms where you often just share posts without thinking too hard about it.

Me, I'm from Germany and a high school student. I live in a not-too-big city and still have to find my balance between having fun and working hard.

I'm not sure what to share on here, and you will surely get to know me better as I post, so for now, just stay tuned and subscribe!

Love,

Emilia

PS: Oh right, I can already now tell you that I always encourage you to comment! Let's share our thoughts, discuss and see different sides to an argument! (Just be civil)
